This virtual panel and discussion will highlight emerging opportunities for writers to innovate and influence the development of vibrant collaborative arts districts across New York.
Please join us on Tuesday, June 1st at 8PM for a spirited online conversation moderated by Nat Kimber and Jeff Barken (NYC Writers Circle Organizers), featuring Art Chang (NYC Mayoral Candidate), Aimee Todoroff (League of Independent Theaters) and Micah Zevin (Risk of Discovery Reading Series, Queens) and others. There will be a panel discussion followed by a Q&A with the audience participants.
*PANEL HOSTED VIA ZOOM*
We recognize that now, post-pandemic, there is an incredible opportunity to reimagine city neighborhoods as Arts Districts in a way that emphasizes the arts as a means to celebrate diversity, facilitate cultural understanding, and to provide an engine for economic development.
In the years ahead, writers will play a pivotal role in building the bridges that will allow for collaborative, inclusive and immersive arts experiences to flourish. In this discussion we aim to answer the following: How can the city help writers better engage in their respective communities? What do novelists, playwrights and poets need to come together more often in community? How can the city of New York provide more resources to help writers succeed? Can the city help writers and artists collaborate more in our shared spaces (like libraries, parks and theaters)? How have writer communities thrived before the pandemic, and how can they thrive now?
Please follow this link to join the conversation. We look forward to seeing you!
